Ohlone Humane Society Wildlife
Rehabilitation Center Our Mission Statement |
OHS Wildlife Rehabilitation is a department of the Ohlone
Humane Society, a non-profit organization. We receive no city, state, or federal
funds and are supported by memberships and your donations.
Who We
Are
Our rehabilitation center is operated 7 days a week
9:00am-4:00pm April 1st - September 30th. We accept injured, ill, or
orphaned wild animals.
Native wild animals consist of birds,
reptiles, raptors, and mammals. We do not accept any domestic animals of
any kind. Our full operation facility includes an exam room, three nursery
rooms, and 10 outside aviaries. We rehabilitate approximately 1000 animals
a year.
There are so many ways you can help with wildlife.
Wildlife rehabilitation is not just assisting animals at the center.
We need volunteers who can do administrative tasks, fund raising, build
cages, or provide animal rehabilitation homecare.
Volunteering
Volunteering at a
wildlife rehabilitation center has so many positive effects. It provides a
personal connection with nature and it offers an avenue for you to give back to
your community. It provides an on-going opportunity for personal growth,
problem solving, decision-making, and crisis management. The greatest
reward of all is when you assist in rehabilitating an orphaned or injured animal
and it is released back into the wild to live out its life. That is your
#1 goal - Rescue-Rehabilitate-Release! We provide hands on training to all
volunteers.
Our baby birds and animals begin arriving at our center from
April through September.
You are in store for a wonderful experience!
We look forward to meeting you!
