THE GREAT SCHOOLYARD BIRD COUNT 2024!
On February 16, elementary school students joined OHS for the 3rd annual Great Schoolyard Bird Count. Students counted the number of birds they saw for 5-15 minutes, and then drew a picture of a bird they saw. Read more about the event and see some of the drawings!
KAYLEE’S GIRL SCOUT SILVER AWARD PROJECT!
Over the winter, Girl Scout Kaylee T. completed her Silver Award at our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Read all about Kaylee’s project to help small, wild birds by educating the community on ways to protect them and if necessary, get these feathered friends proper care so they can return back to their natural habitat.
NEW ANIMAL TALE! THE GOOSE WHO GOT LOOSE
It’s time for our newest OHS Animal Tale! Read about a recent animal care case at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, this one involving a Canada goose who became entangled in fishing line. This story serves as a good reminder to take care with fishing line and other human-made entanglements to protect our wildlife.

Ohlone Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) animal welfare nonprofit. We serve Fremont, Newark and Union City. OHS advocates for all creatures, from native species to companion animals, through our humane programs.
While we don’t operate a shelter, OHS provides a rehabilitation center for urban wildlife.
We invite you to help give animals a voice by Volunteering, Becoming a Member, or providing Donations. Your support truly makes a difference!

We’re Back! The Ohlone Humane Society Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is OPEN!
Thank you to our members and the community for your patience. We have been under construction for the last 5 months and we are happy to report we are now open to the public to receive injured and orphaned wildlife. We are open Tuesday – Saturday 11:30am-3:30pm and closed Sundays and Mondays.

We offer low-cost vouchers to low-income residents living in Fremont, Newark and Union City who want to spay or neuter their pets, including dogs, cats, and rabbits.
